New bathroom, bedding and fluffy towels. Was able to check in early. The Bakehoise was great for breakfast. Very close to train and ferry.

Beautiful location, close to ferry! Nice shower and bath. Large towels. Breakfast was decent but they forgot to put the sausage on the plate and when asked, said they would bring it but had already finished eating before it arrived.

Everything about this place was great. From the welcome we got at the beginning to the cozy cabin and the proximity to the ferry station. Great value for money in the usually expensive Isle of Skye.
In a picturesque bay in the south of Skye, this hotel has beautiful views over the Sound of Sleat and the distant hills of Knoydart.

The staff were very pleasant. The dear lady who checked us in(unfortunately forgot her name) was so pleasant. The place had no mobile network and that feeling of being cut off was great especially coming from a busy and bustling city like London.
Everyone at the hotel were informal and the people around seemed warm and felt like a big family.
I highly recommend to stay here for a day or two when on a trip to the Isle of Skye.
Gorgeous part of the Highlands with good transport links !
Gorgeous part of the Highlands with good transport links ! Ferries and Trains ! The train journey is spectacular and worth every Penny and minute of the 5 hours from Glasgow or 2 hours plus from Fort William … I’m not a train spotter by any means or a Harry Potter fan but this journey as always been on my travel bucket list and did not disappoint!
Good bar / restaurant … great value great food at the top of the hill and friendly locals !! Be aware as you’d expect not a lot open in the depths of winter!! But enough and how I personally like it !!

The scenery was breathtaking, locals so friendly and helpful. Only downside several places were closed due to staff shortages.
Hotel was fantastic but the staff, the two Fiona's and Pawel were wonderful, above and beyond helpful

Mallaig is at its heart an old fishing town which has seen that part of its self-image eroded by the economics of fisheries across the land. Meanwhile it has become popular because of the steam railway and Harry Potter. Though this has improved the economy it feels like the place begrudges this new found dimension and would prefer to revert to its quieter fish-focussed past. Some of the restaurants feel like they are profiteering - £11 for 4 tiny pieces of salt and pepper squid slapped on the table is indicative. Overpriced dishes and underwhelming service. Is it me or do the staff in the hostelries and shops project an air that says they've had enough and want to scuttle off for their own vacation? They need to decide to up their game or move over for someone with more stamina, energy and understanding of customer service. Not somewhere for which I will hold fond memories. The exception to all this is the host of the pod who was bright and cheerful and could not be more helpful.

Plenty of places to eat.
Plenty of places to eat. Mallaig gets busy when the steam train(think Harry Potter) from Fort William arrives.
Surprisingly, many shops were closed on Saturday morning.
Great smoked fish and shellfish from Andy Race fish merchant, but shop not open on Saturday.

It has all the bustle of a busy ferry and fishing port.
It has all the bustle of a busy ferry and fishing port. It has a huge number of cafes, restaurants and tourist facilities. Great rail and road communications. Lovely circular walk above the town - great views.
The location of The Steam Inn is great, right in the heart of Mallaig and only 100m from the very picturesque harbour. The staff are warm and friendly and work hard to please their guests. The seafood on the menu is FANTASTIC. Staying for 6 nights we did not make it fully through the menu. Every dish was prepared and presented to our delight. We cannot complement The Steam Inn enough. We will certainly be back.
The hotel was a 2 minute walk from the station. The staff were lovely and welcoming giving us recommendations of where to go to eat out. Our room had a great view of the town and surrounding islands. The lounge area is beautifully decorated with plenty of comfortable sofas where you can have a drink Infront of a cosy log fire. My only regret is not booking for a longer stay. We will definitely return.
I love the location, staff and the room we were in. After a long train journey, heavy luggage and arriving on a rainy and windy day, we were happy and relieved to find the hotel just on the right hand side of the train station's exit. As close as it is from the train station, we did not hear the train in the room we were given. The staff were super helpful and friendly.
Donald was very welcoming on arrival .As we got there very late for check in time and
understanding. He also gave us a room upgrade which was lovely of him. As he didn't know this but,
we were on are honeymoon and on are last stay in Scotland which made it special thank you.
Seaview is a lovely place to stay and 10/10 for our room. Thank you.
The Marine is clean, comfortable and very well located, with fantastic views of the coast and the historical railway. Breakfast was great and very Covid safe. We had a couple of problems completely unrelated to the hotel during our stay in Mallaig, but each time the staff went out of their way to help. Would definitely return here.
The location is great, a very short stroll to the small centre of Mallaig. There's parking for everyone right by your pod. The pod was very clean and comfortable, with everything like new. Small but well laid-out so nothing felt cramped. Lovely view of the coast sat on the front porch, even a view of the steam train going by!
everything was perfect. Good location, friendly hostess, hostess very helpful and answered all questions. I walked from Mallaig to Glenfinnan Viaduct and the Isle of Skye, so perfect base. I was even allowed to leave my things there after checking in, which was very nice for me. Pure recommendation!
Nice warm and friendly welcome. Clean room, and in a great location. Was passing through Mallaig enroute to Outer Hebrides so only stayed the one night. I didn't use the kitchen facilities but looked substantial for those wishing to use it, and there was a nice big washroom facility.
Harbor and sea views from our room.
Friendly staff.
Perfect location for trains and ferries.
Dog friendly.
The kitchen area with cooking facilities were a plus.
Affordable given its in central Mallaig where there's generally a shortage of (overpriced) accommodation.
The hotel has a lot of character and is quite large in size. It is located in a convenient location - close to stores, restaurants, the ferry and the train. The staff at the check-in desk were very nice. Parking facilities were great!
Perfect size and location, had everything we needed. They even provided oat milk for tea when I messaged to say we were vegan! We only stayed a few nights but feel like we got a lot out of Mallaig - and would definitely come back 😊
The location in "downtown" Mallaig was perfect. Everything was very walkable. The pod itself was super cosy and very clean. Small bathroom, obviously, but hot water and well appointed. I loved the heated floors.
Locaed in the centre of Mallaig, close to shops, pubs and restaurants, also train station and ferry terminal.
Room was basic, with clean bedding and heating that works very well.
Would stay again!
Quaint stay in Mallaig since we wanted to catch the early morning ferry. The rooms are small but clean, with all necessities available! Pub food was decent, with really good desserts :)
The proximity of the lovely, quiet, beaches was wonderful. Fantastic for a beach based holiday and very close to Mallaig, which has a good few things to offer for a peaceful holiday.
