Cumbria Park Hotel, hotel in Carlisle

The new look Cumbria Park Hotel has been extensively refurbished with major improvements to our bedrooms, reception, and bar/lounge areas.

The breakfast, as others have said, was among the nicest I've had in a while. I had the Eggs Florentine, which I could see through the open door, was made to order and was delicious, although the pick'n'mix breakfast bits didn't look quite as nice. The room was of a really good size, and the bed was quite comfy. Unfortunately though, overall, the downs outweighed the ups.

An independent, family-run hotel in an extended Victorian home, with many impressive original features. Close to Carlisle city centre and the M6 motorway.

Friendly welcome, room was ready it was clean, although it would of been nicer to have the heating on but there was a fan heater so we used that, bedside table lights didnt work only the main light and the matteress has seen better days maybe an upgrade on matteresses and beds. Parking at the front and resturant across the road if you fancied it.

Dalston village is beautiful, but Carlisle Town, what we saw of it was uninspiring and unattractive. Lots of road works , confusing road systems and busy. Not a bit like the other lake district towns. Perhaps we hadn't seen the best of it to be fair.

    Quite an underrated town.

Quite an underrated town. The castle and cathedral are very interesting, plenty of history to see. I like it most because you can quite easily travel to fantastic locations from all directions; Hadrian's wall & Newcastle to the East, Ribblehead & the Lake district to the South, the scenic Cumbrian coast to the West & the Historic Southern lowlands of Scotland to the North!

Carlisle is so full of history I love the buildings eg the Cathedral, the Castle, the Citadel which is going to transformed into a university campus. The little streets are very interesting could have spent more time exploring.

Convenience as a base to visit more of Cumbria. If like me you don't drive its good to have a base with plenty of public transport to enable you to see a variety of places. Carlisle itself is easy to walk round, everything within walking distance.

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at The Crown Hotel. It's in the beautiful village of Wetheral and located minutes from the train station which takes you to Carlisle in 7 minutes. Our room was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The use of the hotel spa facilities was an added bonus! A special mention to the hotel staff, they were all so friendly and attentive. 🙂

Cheap and cheerful, I had a single room . Nice and clean bedding, obviously the place is dated but clean that all I need and some free biscuits. Stayed at lot more expensive hotels ( no biscuits there ) and some free shampoo etc . lady on reception was very nice at the cheek in . Watch for your sat nav putting you into the premier inn over the road. Mine did .

In theory the location is good, close to the market area. Unfortunately it is located next to several clubs which operate late into the morning. I was there on a weeknight and the music didn’t stop until 2 am. I would recommend the place if it wasn’t for the noise, but it’s the worst I have ever encountered at any hotel.

The hotel is very close to the M6, A69 junction near Carlisle and is perfect for a stop over. The hotel is comfortable and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed on our way up for a holiday in Scotland and liked the hotel so much we did the same on our way back. Highly recommended.

Great food in evening, obviously short staffed but the staff there were doing their best. Swimming pool and spa were excellent. Hotel room was dated but functional. The pull out bed was a bit disappointing, very uncomfortable. 190 quid for 4 people , 2 rooms with kitchen was pretty good value.

Lovely hotel, fabulous staff can see why it’s a wedding venue. Great location for exploring surrounding areas, Carlisle approx 3 miles away and only a couple of junctions up the M6 to Gretna Green. Hotel grounds were amazing but didn’t get the chance to enjoy them due to torrential rain

This hotel provided excellent, inexpensive accommodation in an undistinctive part of Carlisle. It was better value than posh hotels in the City centre. The breakfast was overwhelming and superbly cooked. There is ample car parking.
