It was a great stay at Casa Madera. Owners are great people. The casa was comfortable and really well equipped with everything you would need. Bed was comfortable though a bit squeaky but it didn't bother me. Nice patio with a beatiful view to the Teide. Overall, good stay!

Great location in Icod, modern flat and very kind host
Icod is an unassuming and charming little town in the north...
Icod is an unassuming and charming little town in the north of Tenerife. It is by no means a tourist resort, but a place where the locals live, work and go to school. Icod has its fair share of attractions - Parque del Drago and Mariposario right in the centre, Cueva del Viento and Playa San Marcos a few kilometres up and downhill respectively - but it is not built around them.
Playa San Marcos is a beautiful spot, a short drive, bus ride or somewhat lengthy walk downhill from the centre of town, but as anywhere on the north coast of Tenerife, be aware that the surf tends to be strong and bathing is not permitted if it gets too strong.
There are many impressive and well-marked hiking routes in the vicinity of Icod, one starting from the plaza of nearby Garachico and going up to and around the Chinyero volcano (you can do it in sections), another from Los Silos to Erjos, to name but a few.
Icod is very well connected to everything along the north coast from Buenavista to Puerto, making it an excellent base from which to explore the north-west of Tenerife. We relied on buses ('guaguas') and sometimes taxis for all our excursions and it worked perfectly.
So, if you are looking for a friendly, relaxed and, shall we say, 'authentic' place to stay in Tenerife, and if you are not fully committed to a beach holiday, then this is the place to go.

We think that the north coast of Tenerife is much more...
We think that the north coast of Tenerife is much more pleasant than the south, it’s much greener, less touristy and there’s some lovely visits to be done. The roads, particularly in the north, are quite hair raising in places, very hilly and twisty, we quite understood by the end of our trip why the car hire company had not bothered to repair all the scrapes! We very much enjoyed the village of Garachico, a few minutes drive from Icod de L’os Vinos, a beautiful little village. Of particular note the restaurant Silogia where we returned for a second visit it was so good, lovely food, beautiful courtyard and friendly efficient hosts. There is also some natural sea water pools which looked wonderful but unfortunately were temporarily closed for some reason. Icod de Los Vinos itself we didn’t visit in depth but we did enjoy the dragon tree and butterfly house. What we did appreciate immensely was all the free on street parking areas everywhere we went in the north and near the beaches.

If you are trekker like us, Icod is a perfect starting point. Climate, closeness to the treks, small playa close by, .... just perfect. Not too big, but big enough with few interesting sights of the town to visit.
Privacy, quite, beautiful view, comfortable house. Owner helpful and friendly. Town is gorgeous, romantic, not expensive, not many tourists. Good restorans, short distance from Loro Parque , Puerto de la Cruise and Siam Park.

We liked the area around Icod.
We liked the area around Icod. The town Garrachico was very nice and we found rough beaches to go swimming. Icod is a friendly town with few tourists when we visited. Lidl as a big shopping center for groceries. The best part is nature around Icod and that it is away from the masses of tourists on the south coast.

Is very good but in one or two years when the Erjos tunnel finish the construction you save twenty minutes in the Teno mountain for the south
and beachs . And then Icod become one of the best place in the midpoint
between north and south

As soon as you walk in, you feel at home. What an amazing place, I traveled quite a bit, this a the nicest place I ever stayed in. The decoration is lovely, and so is Susana. She was very welcoming, answering al my quesions, and always ready for a friendly chat. The terrace with the views is so nice, so is the spacious bathroom with walk in shower. It is really like coming home after your trips. Supermarket at 10 mins walk, the center of Icod de los Vinos is about 15 mins walk. Icod is a lovely little town. Thank you Susana!
Fantastic attention to detail with well equipped bathroom and kitchen/living room. Gorgeous pool and garden with great views. Excellent base to explore local beaches at San Marcos, Puerto De Santiago and bathing pools at Garachico. Also must see beautiful Botanical Gardens with El Drago, gigantic subtropical tree, said to be 1000 years old, in charming Icod de los Vinos old town.
Super attentive host - always ready to assist/answer queries. Will definitely return
The place is located uphill of Icod de los Vinos (around 10-15 min drive to the centre), surrounded by forests and with Teide views. Very calm and ideal for relaxing and enjoying nature. We stayed at El Naranjo, one of the old little houses, which was cozy, very clean, and decorated in rural style. The house is well-equipped with all you can need for a stay of a few days, including fast internet connection. The owner was kind and very available.
the hotel is located in the very center of Ico de Los Vinos. There's a banana museum, a church with a Sunday market, a butterfly park, the famous Dragon tree, as well as grocery stores, bars and restaurants right next door. The hotel is very beautiful, ancient, comfortable and tidy. In the hotel's patio and terrace, surrounded by palm trees and banana trees, we exercised in the morning. Great breakfast! Welcome, I recommend it!
I liked the concept: typical Canary Island house and shared services. The guy in charge of the house was very friendly and kind and always ready to help. The house is not a modern hotel so one must keep this in mind when booking, but if you are not a picky guest you will enjoy the lovely place, the very clean shared facilities and the kindness. The price is also cheap so definitely one will get value for money.
Fantastic location between ocean and volcano! Icod de los vinos 5 min drive, Garachico 10 min. Large supermarket Mercadona and super Dino in Icod and Lidl 8 min drive away. Ideal place for self-catering holiday and exploring North Tenerife! My driving skills improved after driving up and down steep concrete road and practicing three point turn over and over))
Perfect location - in the very center of Icod de Los Vinos. Well equipped kitchen. The bedrooms have windows facing an inside patio, ensuring it's really quiet during the night. There is a parking space available in an underground garage - extremely convenient if you're travelling by car. Easy keys collection and return, perfect communication with the host.
The staff is awesome! The are really friendly and open. Also, they organise hiking, horse riding, some parties and so on. I really recommend to visit this hostel!
I also had my own room with a private bathroom. It was really nice. Almost like in a hotel)
It was my best trip I've ever experienced. Everything was amazing!

The lady from the reception was very friendly and knowledgeable.
This hotel is a must visit, much better than the usual touristy resorts.

Beautiful old hotel in the centre of the old town. Rooms around a courtyard but quiet. We were there at Christmas and all the local restaurants were closed in the evening, so the hostess prepared sandwiches for the guests and set up tables so we could take out from the nearby Chinese restaurant.
Traditional build Canary house / hotel with courtyard in superb condition, despite being in the historical center it is super quiet and simply a perfect gem. Breakfast was amazing, service flexibility of staff were TOP! I be back here for sure.
Very nice hotel and super friendly owner and staff. They provided us with good tips on hikes, visits and dining options. Great breakfast. Nice areas to relax (courtyard, library space). Area a great starting point for several great hikes.
