Viv is a most congenial host and when we arrived an hour earlier than expected, she was more than happy to accommodate us and let us in. The room was lovely, the bed comfortable and access to town was an easy 20 minute walk or short bus ride, which was very nice, especially after a day at the Summerton whiskey festival!
The breakfast was superb, with all you could need. We felt very welcome the whole stay and will definitely book to come back here should the need arise.

St. Albans is a large town/ small city, with a good number of interesting old buildings, including a medieval bell tower, and several museums, including the excellent museum of Roman artefacts on the far side of the large park which drops down from the cathedral. The cathedral is a must if you are into old buildings, with its Norman tower made from Roman bricks among many other features. I was also made very welcome when I joined them for worship. The town has very good pubs, cafes and restaurants, and an extensive street market on certain days. The town itself probably merits a leisurely weekend stay if you enjoy lingering in the cafes, but the Thameslink trains make a day in London very easy, and, if you like old planes, a visit to the De Havilland museum ( no. 84 bus from the town centre ) is well worth it ( rather long walk up the drive from the bus stop, but there is parking at the museum if you take your car. )

St Albans is a very friendly town with people opening doors and being kind and considerate.
We ate in whetherspoons in their Tudor barns and they also had an outdoor area to eat and drink if no rain! The pricing of everything we ate and drank was of good value and was very clean.
There was lots of places we wanted to visit but most of our holiday it rained! But we did visit the shops which are all different and have different price ranges and styles.

I was there for work so didn't really have a chance to look around the place. I managed a visit to the cathedral which is a marvellous hulk of a mediaeval building and still an active place of worship. Wel worth a visit.

Lovely small city with several historic sights (cathedral, Roman ruins) as well as streets of historic houses, large park areas, plenty of good shops including coffee shops and restaurants and a good vibe.
Fantastic stay from start to finish; staff were welcoming and professional. The whole place felt well maintained and comfortable.
The spa area was excellent and not too crowded. We didn’t book any treatments though. The gym was better than you would find in most hotels.
Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice, including vegan and gluten free options.
Don't be deceived by the rather tatty apearance of the front door and hallways, the appartment itself is very good, very comfortable and right in the heart of St Albans city centre. It's close to all the best restaurants and bars and is a short walk from the Abbey and park. A very comfortable bed. Highly recomended if your on your own or a couple.
Location: The hotel is located in a quiet street with a 10 minute picturesque walk to the cathedral/ centre
Hotel: Calm atmosphere, clean, spacious & well-decorated inside; beautiful grounds.
Staff team: excellent, efficient, helpful. Really seemed to care about their guests and couldn't do enough to make the stay a comfortable one.
Very nice, super clean and spacious apartment. Well equipped with everything you need for a short or long stay. Good for individuals, great for families. Good connection by bus to city centre. I can recommend it to everyone for a pleasant and peaceful stay in St Albans.
The breakfast was delicious. The grounds are also stunning with a beautiful view from the terrace. The spa is also stunning - spacious, clean, luxurious and pretty quiet in the evenings. This is the second time we've stayed at the hotel and would return indeed.
Super super clean. The house keeper was extremely friendly. If you are looking for downtown St. Albans and home like experience, this is a great place. If you are looking for a regular "hotel", this is not for you.
The hotel was clean and the staff were polite and helpful, the breakfast had a good variety, the hotel is easily accessible from the motorway and is near to a fuel station and a shopping area.
Old fashioned hotel with the advantage that they did not rush you out in the morning and parking was easy with the added value they allowed a visitor to park. Staff were friendly and helpful.
We loved the fact we could have a room for 5 people. Also the quirkiness of the hotel, and they do have parking at the rear of the hotel and an area to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine.
